And to think we were starting to worry it was going to be Wes Brown. What utter boobs we were three or four minutes before the best signing we’ve ever made.

Joe Cole, ladies and gents. Genuine Joe Cole. He plays for Coventry now.

Joe Cole, Pablo Aimar, Andres D’Alessandro. That was always the list of desired purchases I had on Football Manager, and I still can’t quite believe we’ve got him. Even if it is just for 35 days, you can never take things like this away from us. This is happening and barring any Robert Jarni-style turnarounds, he’s ours for a bit.

If the club fancies auctioning off a couple of his shirts, I definitely want in.

But he won’t be here until Monday so Blackpool have been let off the hook. It’s going to be a great day at the Ricoh, let’s see what we’re up against.

How are they getting on?

Much, much better than they were.

It’s been a rubbish couple of years for Blackpool. Nowhere near as rubbish as it has been for us, but they’d got into the habit of losing and that’s never fun.

They started off this season in the same vein, but lately something has changed. They’re currently on a three game winning streak in the league and JPT, including a strong victory against Swindon Town.

The away record is still poor having only won once in Christ-knows-how-many months. But that one victory did come recently, and backed up with an unbeaten run, this lot may well be turning it around.

Who could cause us trouble?

They got rid of over 20 players in the summer, and brought in around 15. It’s been quite the turnaround on the seaside.

It may not be the collection of reasonably well-known names that Blackpool had become over the last five years, but there’s still some talent in the squad.

Recent signing Mark Cullen is the one to watch. Unlike most League One club signings they actually paid some money for him, and with four goals so far this season he’s starting to make that investment seem worthwhile.

Another player who cost money is former-Manchester City young gun Jack Redshaw who they picked up from Morecambe. He’s scored two or three goals this season and is starting to gel with Cullen up front.

Sky Blues team news

What a luxurious collection of players we have to choose from. I dare you to pick our best team. Go on, I dare you.

Armstrong and Kent are back from international duty and as much as Tony is trying to pretend he won’t play Armstrong, we all know he will.

I really liked the look of the side that beat Shrewsbury at home the other week, and it’s the only way we can fit Fortune and Armstrong in the same team. So that’s happening.

The trickiest part about this is that we have to leave Lameiras, O’Brien and Tudgay sat on the bench. Add to that Joe Cole and we’ve got quite the attacking selection to choose from. Even George Thomas would have had some ideas of getting into the team following his impact the other day.

We called for options earlier in the season but couldn’t really conceive what that would look like. Turns out, it looks phenomenal.

We’re sky high at the moment, and even though these predictions were made pre-Joe Cole, it’s still a symbol of our belief. We’ve been so enjoyable to watch at the Ricoh to date and there’s nothing to suggest we can’t perform in the same manner today.

Please note – Joey says it could be tricky, but is really just using reverse psychology.

Neil: Coventry 3 – 0 Blackpool

Joey: Coventry 1 – 1 Blackpool

Paul: Coventry 2 – 0 Blackpool
