There was a lot to love about Saturday 16 March 2024. Coventry City beating Premier League teams again. Insane stoppage time turnarounds in front of a global audience. Making the FA Cup Semi-Final for only the second time in our history. But it wasn’t until much later in the evening that I stumbled across the majestic CWR commentary of the event. It’s stunning.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2, Coventry City 3. What a scoreline. It was an FA Cup quarter final for the ages. I’m only just recovering from the euphoria now. I know I’m not alone.
Clive and Oggy as the sole voices in the CWR comms box often receive grief from miserable fans because they get the occassional name wrong. But when it comes to capturing the mania of Cov matches and moments, especially the big ones, they know precisely how to bring the joy.
I listened back to what they’d conjured up on Saturday and was mesmerised. The final six minutes of the game had so much to enjoy on the pitch, I didn’t realise it could get any better, but better it got, thanks to three legendary gents capturing the glory from the CWR commentary box.
Not that you’ll need another invitation to watch this again, but I’ve taken the liberty of mixing the TV coverage with the only comms you really want as a Cov fan – Clive, Oggy and Winchy whooping and squeaking their way through the final minutes of one of our greatest ever victories.
Enjoy it. I did.
The final six minutes on Saturday was the ultimate Clive, Oggy & Winchy moment.
